Artist biography

Nick Dunmur | photographer and printmaker

Born Oxford, England in 1966. Nick graduated with a BA (Hons) first-class degree in Photography at Trent Polytechnic, Nottingham in 1988.

Nick has worked for many years in the advertising and commercial sectors and alongside that, been producing his own work for sale in the form of editioned archival prints.
He is experienced in, and uses, both film and digital formats. The printwork shown here involves the concept, development and implementation of visual strategies to arrive at a finished piece of work. Some of the bodies of work are more concept-driven than others but all rely on a visual aesthetic to first attract, and then retain, the viewer's attention.

He has worked as a visiting photography lecturer at both Nottingham Trent University and the University of Derby.

He was a winner of the student Agfa Bursary during his second year of study at Trent (1987) resulting in an exhibition at Smiths Gallery, Covent Garden and starting a enduring desire to get his work seen.

More recently, he was long-listed in the Aesthetica Art Prize 2014 and again in 2016.
He has been a member of the the Association of Photographers since 1998.

Printworks

All works produced for sale are editioned and signed and numbered on the reverse (verso) and come with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.

Prints are made using a variety of processes which include archival ink-jet on beautiful cotton rag papers through to silver-gelatin, platinum and salt print processes using 19th century techniques to make beautifully crafted, unique photographic prints.

Full details of the processes used and the edition size are given with each body of work on the site.
